Plasma Production in Pulsed-Mode

Microwaves: General Experiment

Introduction

In this chapter, the experimental set-up for plasma production and its prop-

erties will be described using pulsed-mode microwaves. There are two parts

of the experiment, as described in this chapter and Chapter 9.

The rst part is of a general nature, where a waveguide with a dimension

much larger than the cutoff value is used to study the general characteristics

of a plasma produced by high-power, short-pulse microwaves. The wave-
