How to Build a Business Rules Engine

1. It first finds all the business rules for the currently selected business process

step that are of the type Required Screen Fields. It does not process them in

any particular order. If the designer wishes to introduce a sequence to this

process, the Business Rules Repository will have to be extended to let the user

specify a sequence number for each field to be checked. This is not difficult to

do.

2. For each rule retrieved (i.e., for each required field) the function first generates

comments in the code providing the logical and physical name of the field,

and whether the lack of an entered value will generate an error or a warning.

Again we see the relative ease with which a business rules engine can add

comments to generated code.
