Defining Subtypes

At this point, we have reviewed functionality in the sample application that allows

users to manage metadata for relationships and pathways. There is also a need for

functionality to manage subtypes. From this point on the term subtype is used to refer

to what has previously been termed hidden subtype. The reality is that hidden sub-

types are very common in databases, but formal subtypes of the kind declared in data

models are very rare or nonexistent. In the sample application, this functionality can
