Conclusion

In this chapter we have seen another simple rule type, Valid Datatypes for Screen

Fields. This was similar to the Required Screen Fields rule type we covered in the

previous chapter, and we were able to reuse much of the design (and programming)

from this earlier rule type. We then moved on to a more complex rule type, Screen

Fields Valid Ranges, which required the use of rule components and rule versions.

The result is that we now have a rules engine that can accept definitions and gener-

ate code for three rule types, all of which validate inputs on data entry screens. We

have also added to the richness of metadata in the business rules repository, which
