The most common question asked of designers from design school students (usually to fulfill a class assignment) is, “What is your favorite piece of design?” Oh, what a dreaded question it is. Although it is fairly easy to select five or ten designed things that have long-term importance or resonance, can one choose just one? It is like asking what is one’s favorite book, movie, or record—or worse, what is one’s favorite color? Can there be just one? I don’t think so.
