So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

I honestly had no idea who Iron Maiden was when I bought Piece of Mind in 1983 at age fourteen, but I just knew by looking at the cover it would piss off my parents. In that split second, this album cover transformed my teenage rebellion into inspiration and ultimately became the reason I’m a designer/illustrator today. Even after all these years, Eddie’s image motivates me to kick ass and take names later.
Perhaps these days I’m just being nostalgic or looking to rekindle the fearlessness of youth now long gone, but clearly Derek Riggs’s illustrations still inspire me to make art.
Even if you’re not a fan of heavy metal you have to admit Derek Riggs has created ...
