No design history would be complete without mention of the “Polish poster school,” in general, and Henryk Tomaszewski, in particular.
I have always felt that Henryk’s work presented a small rift in the design continuum, a break from the European-centric styles of Art Deco and artists like Cassandre and a proposal for a more modern type of poster art. One possible example of any knowledge or homage to design history would be the simplicity and reductivist attitude of Lucien Bernhard’s commercial poster work.
