You see a sign that a new deli sandwich shop has opened and you
decide to check it out. Your discovery of this new deli is the first
step on the stepping-stone path to brand insistence. So, you step
into the deli with high expectations of a freshly made lunch. This
is now your trial period for this brand. Unfortunately, there is a 15-
minute wait, the shop service is disorderly, and the submarine
sandwich isn’t all that good. You have just had a negative experi-
ence, and it will be difficult for this shop to lure you back. Yet, two
weeks later you say to yourself, “What the heck, I’ll give this place
another chance. After all, it was the grand opening and they were
