Issue – no audio in Windows KVM
Sound devices must be added manually by adding the following line in a KVM virtual machine configuration file located in /etc/pve/qemu-server/<vm_id>.conf:
args: -device intel-hda,id=sound5,bus=pci.0,addr=0x18 -device hda-micro,id=sound5-codec0,bus=sound5.0,cad=0 -device hda-duplex,id=sound5-codec1,bus=sound5.0,cad=1
After saving the configuration file, the VM will need to be powered off and then powered on. Windows 7 and later will automatically install the necessary driver for the sound device.
