Network bonding or Teaming or Link Aggregation (LAG) is a concept where multiple interfaces are combined to increase the throughput, set up network redundancy, and balance network load. This concept is heavily used in high-demand environments where downtime and slow network I/O are not acceptable. The Proxmox GUI provides excellent features to create and manage to bonding within the cluster node. Bonding modes supported by Proxmox are balance-rr, active-backup, balance-xor, broadcast, Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) or 802.3ad, balance-tlb, and balance-alb. The following table lists the various bonding modes as well as their policies and descriptions:
