Issue – cannot log in to the GUI as root after reinstalling Proxmox on the same node
In order to log in to the Proxmox GUI as root, local loopback must be enabled in the network interface file. Look for the following two lines to make sure they are not commented out in /etc/network/interfaces:
auto lo iface lo inet loopback
