HA is a combination of components and configurations that allows continuous operation of a computational environment. Basically, it means that even when unattended server hardware goes bad in a live environment, HA can manage the remaining servers on its own and keep a virtual environment running by automatically moving or migrating virtual machines from one node to another, while minimizing downtime as little as possible. It should be noted here that Proxmox HA does not provide zero downtime migration of VMs. When a node with VM goes down hard, for obvious reason the VM becomes fully inaccessible.
