I like recording my videos to DVD for many reasons. First, the video is much more accessible than linear formats like VHS or even DV tape, so viewers can get to the footage they want to see more quickly. Second, DVDs don't degrade like analog tape, so if you play the videos frequently, you don't lose quality. Finally, DVD is a much more stable format than analog tape, which can start to decay in as few as 10 years.
Though videos produced with Movie Maker can be integrated into DVD projects, Movie Maker itself can't produce a DVD playable on DVD players. For that, you need a DVD authoring program like Sonic MyDVD.
