Chapter 8. Working In The Contents Pane

The Contents pane houses the assets contained in each collection. With some assets, such as audio and digital images, the Contents pane is merely a convenient spot for storing assets before importing them into a project.

With video, however, the Contents pane is also a very convenient place to decide, in the immortal words of Bob Seger, “what to leave in, what to leave out.” Even though it's much more fun to consider the special effects, transitions, and titles that lie ahead, unmercifully cutting unnecessary video from the project is probably the single most important editing task, and the Contents pane is the ideal place to start.
