In Oracle’s terms, a portal "enables you to interact with information from many different sources through a single interface. In OracleAS Portal terms, that interface is called a page. The portal itself is a collection of pages." Just about anyone who has surfed the Web is familiar with a portal; Yahoo.com, MSN.com, and even Amazon.com can be considered portals. Oracle’s main product offering in the portal area is OracleAS Portal, which is part of the Oracle Application Server. OracleAS Portal used to be called WebDB, and the latest version of OracleAS Portal, as of May 2007, is 10.1.4.
