The OracleAS Portal Development wizards referenced in Chapter 1 and the OmniPortlet and Web Clipping wizards discussed in Chapter 6 are examples of what Oracle refers to in its documentation as declarative portlet development. In this development model, developers declare what they want (as opposed to how to get what they want) and various wizards generate the actual code that runs behind the scenes. While it is possible to modify the code after it is generated, this is not the intent of the declarative development wizards—the generated code is very difficult to maintain and enhance.
