of ineffective project
governance
Ahead of proposing any new project governance arrangements it’s
necessary to have a clear understanding of the problem itself. This
chapter therefore investigates the root causes of ineffective project
governance and the subsequent problems that arise. The simplest defi-
nition of a successful project is one that delivers the required outcome
within the defined constraints of time, cost and quality. If any of these
constraining parameters are significantly exceeded or compromised, or
if the desired outcome is not achieved, then the project has, to some
