So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

11.2.2 Connecting to the switch through the serial port
To connect to the switch through the serial port, perform the following steps:
1. Connect the serial cable provided with the switch to the RJ-45 socket in the
switch, using the console port in the:
– Interface module in MDS 9216
– Supervisor module in slot 5/6 in the MDS 9506, MDS 9509, and MDS
9513
2. Connect the other end of the serial cable to an RS-232 serial port on the
workstation.
3. Disable any serial communication programs running on the workstation.
4. Open a terminal emulation application (such as HyperTerminal on a PC), and
configure it as follows:
Bits per second: 9600
Data bits: 8
Parity: none
Stop bits: 1
Flow control: ...
