4.3 Availability
The SAN18B-R and SAN16B-R routers have redundant, hot-swappable power
supplies and fans. The SAN16B-R currently supports hot code load, but not hot
code activation. The SAN18B-R supports hot code load and hot code activation
for FC ports.
For FC-FC routing and FCIP tunneling, we recommend that you install two or
more SAN routers to ensure availability of the backbone fabric.
For the iSCSI gateway function, the 2109-A16 can be configured to support
iSCSI failover between two routers. However, not all iSCSI clients support such a
configuration.
