Filtering is a major part of data analysis. Tableau allows us to filter using dimensions or measures. Filtering in Tableau follows this order of operations:
To apply filters to any visual, drag the field to the Filters shelf, or select within the graph what to include/exclude. For example, to find Profit by Market for the Standard Class shipping mode, drag Ship Mode to the Filters shelf. Once you drag it to the shelf, you will be asked how you want the data filtered. This mode differs for dimensions and measures. For dimensions, there are the options of General, Wildcard, Condition, and Top:
