So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Text tables (cross-tabs)
Text tables are similar to Excel grids, that is, they contain rows, columns, and values in a grid. These tables are very useful when there is limited data, and you want to see the exact number quickly, or if you need to find the intersection points between categories (equivalent to a cell in Excel).
For example, what was the total Shipping Cost for Office Supplies in the Consumer Segment?
To create this table, follow these steps:
- Select Segment, Category, and Shipping Cost and select the text tables icon (the first graph) from the Show Me window.
- Alternatively, put Segment and Category on Columns and Rows, respectively, and then place SUM(Shipping Cost) on the Marks text shelf, as shown in the following screenshot: ...
