Exercise: Quick mind dump
This exercise is a quick version of the de-stress technique (Chapter 3) to help you get just enough off your mind so that you can sleep.
- To get started: grab a pen and paper or journal.
- Divide the pad into two sections and head each section with the following titles 1. Issue on my mind; 2. Insight/solution/schedule.
- In the first section just write down everything that is keeping you awake. Here are some prompts:
- What’s keeping me up?
- What is it that I’m dealing with that I can’t solve?
- What am I afraid of?
- What’s the most pressing thing I need to do?
- What do I keep forgetting to do?
- As you are writing you may see solutions to problems, gain some insights or see the need to take some action or schedule an action. Write ...
