BEFORE WE BEGIN actually using Photoshop, let’s take a look at the workspace. When you open Photoshop, you’ll see a bunch of windows and buttons that normally freak people out, so it’s a good idea to just get an overview of what’s there.
The first thing you’ll see when you open Photoshop is a list of filenames or thumbnails for all of the recent files you’ve worked with. If you click on Create new on the left side of the screen to create a new blank document, you will get a dialog box with templates for specific types of projects that you may want to work with (Figure 1.1).
