50. USING FILTERS IN PHOTOSHOP

IN ADDITION TO the great tools that Photoshop provides for manipulating tone and color in an image, you also have a collection of filters that you can use to take your artistic vision further. If you have more than one layer in your document, you’ll need to merge the layers onto a single layer in order to apply a filter (Figure 50.1; see Lesson 34 for instructions on how to merge layers).

Select the merged layer in the Layers panel and go to Filter> Filter Gallery. Your image will open in a new window with all of the available filters in panels on the right (Figures 50.2–50.5). We’d end up with a second book if I ...
