CREATING A SUCCESSFUL black-and-white image requires more than just pulling the color out of the picture. You can control how a black-and-white image looks by manipulating the areas of color in the source image.

I’d like to turn my image of the old Ford into a black-and-white image (Figure 53.1). In Figure 53.2, I’ve created a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer and moved the Saturation slider all the way over to the left.
