40. USING LAYER MASKS FOR ADJUSTING COLOR

NOW THAT THE tonality of the example picture has been adjusted, let’s spend some time talking about how to work with color using adjustment layers.

The first thing I want to do is adjust the blue color cast in the hubcap area on the left. The best way to do that is to create a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer, and then use the Targeted Adjustment tool (the little finger under the word Preset in the Properties panel) to select the color that I want to desaturate (Figure 40.1). I’ll click on the hubcap with the Targeted Adjustment tool and drag to the left to pull out all of the blue.
