3 DEFINITION
Enterprise architecture has had a range of definitions – often because they are not defining the same thing. Variations include the breadth and depth of scope, the activities included and excluded and the position in the organisation. We are not going to try to be authoritative and select one. We have used multiple definitions and analogies ourselves over the years.
What matters most is the fit of the enterprise architecture definition you use with the needs of the organisation. The definition is often accompanied by a metaphor, analogy or description that helps others to understand what we mean.
