Contrary to common belief, the homepage does not get the most views and is not the most important page of the user experience. It used to be, but it’s not anymore, and it hasn’t been for a long time. Nowadays, with more than half of a website’s visitors first landing somewhere other than the homepage (and the vast majority of them never even seeing the homepage), it could even be considered the least important page of the user experience.
Think about the most recent time you went to a website. Did you type in the URL directly, or did you Google it and click on a link, or get there via social media instead? And when you arrived, did you land on the homepage, or did you end up on an interior page?
