Failover routing
Similarly to the latency-based routing, the failover routing approach allows us to find a target that can serve the client. In the case of failover routing, an active endpoint is required. This active endpoint can represent our main data center or the region where our application usually serves all of the traffic. We then set a failover endpoint. This one represents a passive site that will be used in case the primary endpoint fails the health check. This routing policy is used when a primary site is replicating data only in one direction to a backup or a disaster recovery site.
