It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Pricing
There is no cost for establishing the API Gateway service as the cost model for API Gateway is pay-per-request. For RESTful APIs, the request pricing is extremely low, starting at $3.5 USD per million requests. The pricing decreases with volume; after 333 million requests, the pricing gets a 15% discount, at 667 million another 15% kicks in, and at over 20 billion requests an additional 20% is sheared off the price per million requests. This makes API Gateway increasingly efficient with scale.
