An interesting analysis of the future of vehicular networking and the mobile Internet is provided
in Gerla and Kleinrock [96]. Networks formed by actors involved in a transportation system, namely,
vehicles, pedestrians, and public transportation, form a large urban sensing network with different
objectives (e.g., congestion, pollution, and forensics) [97–99]; the transferring of information may
not only involve direct connections from sensors to the Internet, but it may also involve Peer-to-peer
(P2P) exchanges with other vehicles [96]. Although the advancements in intelligent transportation
