Fonts / Encoding Preferences

The Preferences dialog box’s Fonts / Encoding category configures the default display fonts:

Default Encoding

This preference specifies the character-encoding scheme, which sets the charset attribute of the <meta> tag (see Chapter 2). English and Western European languages should use the Western (Latin1) option.

Font Settings

This preference lets you choose an encoding scheme from the list to set its default font and point size for the proportional font, fixed font, and Code Inspector font. These settings do not affect the text displayed in the visitor’s browser. Use the Text Font and Text Size commands, or the Property inspector, to adjust the font and point size that web site visitors see.

Proportional Font and Size

This setting determines the default font and point size for proportional text in Design view.

Fixed Font and Size

This setting determines the default font and point size for fixed-width text in Design view, such as preformatted text.

Code Inspector

This setting determines the default font and point size for text in Code view and the Code Inspector.
