So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Esta metáfora suena violenta y poco ideal. Pero lo que me gusta de ella es que los periodos duros de crecimiento se sienten difíciles. Estas metáforas captan la sensación de "¿Puedo hacerlo?" y "¿Puedo mantenerlo?".
Para todo lo que me gusta escribir -y practicar- sobre cómo es la buena gestión, la realidad es que muchos gestores no son tan buenos, e incluso los buenos gestores, que actúan bajo su propio conjunto de presiones, no son buenos para todos todo el tiempo. Muy pocas personas consiguen todo lo que necesitan, cuando lo necesitan, para tener éxito. Todo el mundo tiene sus momentos de dificultad. Si tenemos suerte, son los momentos en los que más aprendemos. Si no lo somos, son momentos en los que lo mejor que podemos decir de ellos es "he sobrevivido".
