IC50 is the concentration of an inhibitor where the binding response is reduced by half. This is a metric that can be used to benchmark different small molecules/ligands/drugs. The lower this metric value, the better the suitability of the potential drug.
Our example program uses a dataset that uses pIC50. The proper way to average IC50 values is to take the geometric mean of the IC50 values, which can be easily calculated if pIC50 values are used.
