How IoT Is Altering IAM

The concept of IAM is being redefined by the Internet of Things. A researcher from Gartner

explained that identity and access management is on its way to become an important component

of all IoT solutions. But why is that? Gartner revealed that by 2020, there will be around 20 billion

Internet of Things devices in the world. Thus, while originally IAM was only created for employee

management, IAM can be used in the Internet of Things for the management of customers,

employees, devices, and IoT devices while at the same time it focuses on the dierences between

all of them.
