PROJECT 9: IoT BASED SMART DOORBELL SYSTEM
Introduction and Objectives
When someone presses our doorbell we immediately rush towards the door to open.
Werarely have a second thought about the identity of the person behind the door. In fact, we
only confirm the identity once we open the door. We spend tons of money on the security
doors, reinforced windows, and expensive locking system. However, once the door is open
without inspection the security becomes hollow. Thus, security is one of the foremost impor-
tant concerns in the home and oce. Having a remote home security system could be the best
answer to security issues. It keeps the homeowners safe and intruders out. Our system will
be composed of a Doorbell interface with Raspberry Pi. Once someone presses the doorbell,
the camera attached to the system will get automatically triggered to capture the face of the
person on the door. Then thecomputer checks for their face in the database which has already
registered many faces. If the person on the door is an authorized person, then the door will
open, else the system will send an OTP with a picture of the intruder to the system’s server
mail. Anon-authorized person can enter the OTP then only their face gets added to the data-
base in order to open the door.
