Pool decisions
As we'll explore in Chapter 8, Ceph Architecture: Under the Hood, Ceph clusters provision one or more pools in which data is organized, for example, one for block storage and another for object storage. These pools may have different designs based on different use cases; they may even live on different hardware. Several important decisions must be made before provisioning each pool.
