Ceph MONs by default write logs to /var/log/ceph/ceph-mon.hostname.log. On each MON server there is also a global cluster log written by default to /var/log/ceph/ceph.log. The combined information in the latter can help correlate activity among the constellation of Ceph daemons one has deployed, so in this chapter we will focus on it. These default filenames are a function of the default cluster name, which as you may have deduced is ceph. Tricky, isn't it? One may configure a cluster to use a non-default name; we discuss that briefly below in the context of configuration file naming.
