So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Replication
The keeping of redundant copies of data is fundamental to Ceph, and the manner in which this is done is a fundamental characteristic of each pool. One is not prevented from provisioning a pool with no redundancy, but it rarely if ever makes sense to do so. Ceph today provides two redundancy strategies for ensuring data durability and availability: replication and erasure coding.
Replication is familiar to anyone who has worked with drive mirroring aka RAID 1 or RAID 10: multiple copies of data are kept on each of multiple devices.
