I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Packages
It is also suggested to work a rich set of utilities into your operating system installation. This can be accomplished via templates for provisioning tools like Ubuntu preseed and RHEL kickstart or by management systems like Puppet, Ansible, and Chef. Here's a list of packages that this author suggests; you may of course adjust to your own needs and preferences. The package names provided by your Linux distribution may vary, for example RHEL and CentOS provide emacs-nox vs the emacs24-nox that one selects on Ubuntu 14.04.
