Thus far we have covered creating Azure services for our application from within Visual Studio. However, it is likely you will need to create services from within the Azure Portal itself and then connect and deploy your application to these services using the publishing techniques described in the prior section. This section examines how you use the Azure portal to set up services such as a hosted website and a database.
At the time of this writing, Microsoft had just released a preview of another revision to their Azure management portal. This revision was used for the screenshots and content here. Don’t be surprised if things have changed a bit by the time you read this.
