Building Kubernetes environments on Azure

Microsoft Azure considers Kubernetes as a key component when it comes to running containers in production. There are various ways you can run Kubernetes in Azure, such as the following:

  • Running an Azure Container Service (ACS) cluster
  • Running an Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) cluster
  • Running an Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO)-based Kubernetes cluster
  • Building your own cluster in Azure IaaS VMs

We looked at these options in brief in the previous sections of this chapter. Building your own cluster in Azure VMs includes setting up your own Azure IaaS infrastructure and installing Kubernetes environments in them manually.
