Autoscaling the AKS cluster

You can use the Cluster Autoscaler (CA) extension of Kubernetes to configure autoscaling for agent nodes in your AKS cluster. CA is a tool that automatically adjusts the number of Kubernetes nodes in a cluster based on the following specifications:

  • There are pods that failed to run in the cluster due to insufficient resources.
  • There are nodes in the cluster that have been underutilized for an extended period of time, and their pods can be placed on other existing nodes.

By default, CA scans for pending pods every 10 seconds and removes a node if it's not needed for more than 10 minutes. We can use CA in conjunction with HPA to ensure autoscaling capabilities across cluster infrastructure and application pods. ...
