Azure Traffic Manager distributes traffic across entities called endpoints. Endpoints can have resources, such as App Service, App Service slots, Cloud Service, and public IP addresses.
Endpoints come in the following three flavors:
- Azure endpoints: These endpoints are used for Azure services, such as Cloud Services, App Services (for example, web apps), and public IP addresses that can be associated with a VM or a load balancer.
- External endpoints: These endpoints are used for non-Azure services that can be hosted either on-premise or in another cloud.
