Photography needs light. The more light is available, the easier it is to get a properly exposed photograph. The basics stay the same. You control the amount of time the sensor is exposed to the light by controlling the shutter speed, you control the amount of light passing through the lens by controlling the aperture, and you control how sensitive the sensor acts to light by controlling the ISO. All three settings not only control the exposure but also how motion is captured, the depth of field, and the amount of digital noise in your images.
