A camera’s ISO range and ability to shoot at high ISOs with low noise is really important for low-light sports shooting. You will be using ISO settings of 3200, 6400, and higher on a regular basis. For the best image quality possible, your camera needs to be able to shoot at those settings. When you look at the specifications of a camera, the ISO is shown as a range of settings from a low number to a high number. For example, the ISO range for the Nikon D5300 is 100–12,800. That means it can shoot at the following ISO settings: 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200, 6400, and 12,800.
