When photographing boxing, you need to watch the gloves and start to shoot as the boxer starts to throw a punch. If you wait to see if the punch has landed, you will be too late. That’s where the frames per second and the speed of the memory card come into play.
Punches can be a lot faster than you think, and the knockout can come in a split second. You want to keep your eye to the viewfinder and track the action with your camera—even if the boxers turn their backs to you. They can turn around again and you need to be ready.
