Budget

In chapter 3, you learned how to create a budget using a simple worksheet. During the manage phase, the project manager must track the actual costs of the project and compare them with the budget items. Most project management software packages allow you to manage dollars at the activity level, but some people prefer to do the tracking on a simple spreadsheet. Either way, it is important to keep an eye on the costs, watching for the start of insidious trends. The quicker those trends are spotted, the quicker corrective action can be taken.
