• A rigid substrate such as
canvas, illustration board,
or artist panel, on which
is mounted a painting,
photograph, image,
texture, or illustration
• Matte medium
• Petroleum jelly
• Acrylic paint
• Paint brush

This technique gives the e ect of old peeling paint. Use an
image that you either painted or decoupaged* onto a rigid
surface such as canvas, Bristol, or illustration board. By using
layers of simple petroleum jelly and acrylic paint, it’s easy to
give your image that ancient or grungy look that can be just
the e ect you are looking for.
