I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

I set the type in InDesign,
printed it, taped it to the copper,
then embossed the text by hand
into the metal from the back side.

I wanted kind of a gritty look in this
poster, and the punched metal gave
me some of that. I also wanted to
capture the colors and textures of
the rocks, foliage, and sands that are
part of Rio de Janeiro’s landscape.
I used modeling pastes, gels with
inclusions, patinas, sanding, even
a little gold embossing, ...
